Bull Terrier    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Shelley comes to us as an owner surrender because the landlord threatened to evict her previous owner if she didn't get rid of her. This cutie is 2 years old, weighs 40 pounds, and is very nosey, curious, social, friendly, active, playful, smart and affectionate. She is very quiet unless she needs to bark. She can be jealous of other dogs. She likes cats but rushes up on them. She also gets along with children. Shelley is not a big eater, and will eat her food on and off throughout the day. She may need encouragement with eating. Shelley can be destructive and has been known to eat/swallow random things like toys, etc. She should NEVER ... (Read More)be left alone with them, because she would be at risk for swallowing something and then getting an obstruction, which can lead to expensive surgery. She knows basic commands like SIT and is very treat motivated. She loves going on car rides, playing fetch with tennis balls and any toy with a squeaker, chasing the windshield wipers (can be dangerous when driving), attacking the wind going 50mph down the highway, going to the park, running, being sprayed with water, and just generally being active. She does not like being ignored (will shove toys in peoples face), skateboards/bikes, rodents/small animals, cold weather, and other people fighting. She is afraid when people yell and scream. She is known to jump fences, sqeeze out of tight spots if she can fit and dig. She should NEVER be left alone in the backyard because she would be at high risk for getting out. Shelley is your typical young bullie... she is full of energy and if she doesn't get it out one way, she will another. She is a toddler in a little 40lb dog suit. She can hear you, just doesnt care... a little hard-headed and stubborn when she wants to be. She is spayed, up to date on her shots and heartworm negative. She is also housebroken and crate trained. She sometimes has pee accidents when she is nervous (submissive peeing). If this adoraBULL girl sounds like the one for you, apply to adopt her online now! (Less)

Bullie family, let's please give a warm welcome to the newest member of our family, Miss Sophie (formerly Spud from MDAS)... clearly she has had a rough life, most likely been used as a breeding machine and thrown out like yesterday's garbage when she was no longer of use. We will be vetting her ASAP, but until then, what we know so far is that she has an ear infection, eye infection with dry eye and corneal scarring, severe dental disease with multiple broken canines, overgrown nails, skin inflammation/infection, calluses, multiple mammary tumors, Grade II heart murmur and is heartworm positive. Rescue Me ID: 17-03-23-00277Rocky (male)

Bull Terrier    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Cancer,
 Abused/Neglected

[Read About Natural Cancer Care] We rescued Rocky from MDAS where he was surrendered by his previous owner to be put to sleep. Rocky was diagnosed with squamous cell cancer of the skin in his left groin on July 2016. At that time, the tumor was small and was fully removed. Everything seemed good, but the owners were instructed to follow-up with a cancer specialist. Unfortunately, they did not, and his medical care was neglected. The tumor came back in December 2016 and it became a lot bigger before they addressed the issue. Instead of dealing with it, they brought him to a high kill shelter to be killed. Additionally, in going through ... (Read More)his old vet records, we found out that Rocky was an outside dog and neglected for most of his young life. He has only been to the vet once in 2011 when he was just a puppy, and treated for Demodex mange. The next time he was brought to a vet was in July 2016, when his owners first noticed the tumor in his groin. He had not seen a vet in 5 years. When we found out, we could not let this happen to this sweet boy. We wanted to see if he had a chance. We pulled him from the shelter and took him straight to Animal Cancer Care Clinic in Fort Lauderdale the next day, where he was examined and evaluated by the surgeon, Dr. Weinstein. Dr. Weinstein felt that he could operate and remove as much of the tumor as he can so that Rocky can have the best chance at living as long as he can in comfort. His surgery was a success, and we opted to follow this with chemotherapy with Dr. Correa. He is receiving Carboplatin and will have a total of 4-6 treatments, spaced every 3 weeks. As you can imagine, his vet bills have been costly ($3000-4000 for the surgery, and approximately $3000 for the chemo). We have started a YouCaring page to raise these funds: https://www.youcaring.com/rockycancersurgery If you are more comfortable calling in his donation directly to the vet hospital, you can do so at: Animal Cancer Care Clinic 1122 NE 4th Ave Fort Lauderdale FL 33304 United States (954) 527-3111 *** Please ask for Elysse - say donation is for Rocky with Bull Terrier Rescue of the Sunshine State *** Please help us give this sweet, sweet boy another chance at life. He is a very mellow, chill boy, and has been non-reactive to dogs in his foster home and stray cats during walks. He would be great with children. He is housebroken and crate-trained, but could definitely use work with his leash manners and counter-surfing/begging for human food from the dinner table. He has a bad habit of chewing his paws, and needs to be watched closely for that. Rocky is a picky eater and needs kibble mixed with canned/wet food; he does not like to eat dry kibble by itself. He loves to just lay with you on the sofa and cuddle. Rocky has a lot of life left in him, whether that is a year or longer. He has so much love to give. If you are that special someone to give this special boy a home, please apply online now! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-02-07-00588Spud (male)

Bull Terrier    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Female Dogs Only, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Spud comes to us as an owner surrender as she is going through some difficult changes in her life. He is 8 years old and is described as friendly, protective, shy, active, playful, nervous, smart, affectionate, obedient and calm. He is a dominant male and dog-selective. He must be introduced slowly to other dogs; he can get along with them as long as they are not aggressive to him. He does not get along with cats. He does OK with older, well-mannered children, but does not do well with screaming kids and loud noises (he gets nervous around them and starts shaking). He loves to sleep in bed with you, and is known to be a bed hog. He loves ... (Read More)wearing hooded sweatshirts when it is cold outside. He does not like loud noises like fireworks, gunshots, lightning and thunder. He goes after flyswatters, brooms, rakes and vacuum cleaners. He knows basic commands like sit, lay down, stay and nite nite. His absolute favorite toy is a frisbee. He can also be a couch potato and love to lay on the couch and cuddle. He loves getting loved on, getting praises, playing in the pool and playing in the waves at the beach. He does not like getting his face washed during a bath or getting his toenails clipped. He is very loyal and can become protective with strangers. Spud does not like being crated and had a doggie door where he was free to go in and out as he pleased, but he prefers being inside the house. He is housebroken. He is neutered, up to date on all his shots and is heartworm negative. He is allergic to pork (cannot be given Comfortis) and peanuts. He has skin allergies during seasonal changes, or if he gets any flea or mosquito bites. His diet is Blue Buffalo Sensitive Skin and Stomach and he does great on that. He sometimes hurts his knee on his back legs (overstretched tendons) after playing frisbee and needs to rest for a few days. He also has an ear hematoma that is drained occasionally. He gets nervous when going to the vet. Spud is the typical bullie - can be hard-headed and stubborn at times, and needs an experienced owner with a firm and consistent hand. If this boy sounds like the dog for you, please fill out an application for him now! We are looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt family! (Less)

7 year old male Spike comes to us from one of our local shelters where he was found as a stray. He is approximately 7 years old and weighs about 40 lbs, but is on the skinny side and could gain some weight to fill out! He is deaf and partly blind, not sure if this is related to his current eye infection and/or entropion. We will get a better handle on his vision once his eye infection is treated. He has just been neutered and fully vetted. He is heartworm positive and will need to be adopted locally so we can continue to pay for his HW treatment with our local vet in Lake Worth, FL. During his treatment, he will need to be crated and/or have ... (Read More)limited exercise/activity for about 4 months, to minimize the risk of complications from the treatment. We are in the initial stages of evaluating this sweet boy, but so far he has been non-reactive to dogs and cats, and has been great with children. He is crate, potty and leash trained. Spike will make a wonderful companion for the right person/family. Please consider opening your heart and home to this special needs boy (Less)
